Directions

  • Create a Microsoft Word document and address your paper (10 points).
  • Save the file to the Server in your "Word" folder (10 points).
  • The file name is termswindows_maryjones (7 points).
  • You will receive a word bank and a list of definitions.
  • You will type the terms and the definitions in accordance with the example below.
  • When you are finished, resave and connect to the Server Printer and print (10 points).
  • Each terminology word is 7 points.

 

  1. Title Bar - It shows you the name of the file, the name of the program, and contains the Minimize, Restore Down/Maximize and Close Buttons. Note: If more than one window is open the Title Bar of the active window is blue while the other appears grayed-out.
  2. Close Button - The Close Button, which looks like an X, is located in the Title Bar and closes the program.
  3. Restore Down/Maximize Button - The Restore Down/Maximize Button, which looks like two windows, allows you to resize the window so that it can be moved around by dragging the Title Bar.
  4. Minimize Button - The Minimize Button, which looks like a minus sign or a closed window, when clicked disappears and is placed in the Taskbar, but the program is still running.
  5. Menu Bar - Is represented by words instead of icons and contains groups of actions that are called menus.
  6. Toolbar - A Toolbar is a collection of buttons that lets you use the most common commands with a single click.
  7. Resize Mode - When you place your mouse on the edge of a window the mouse changes into a two-headed arrow which indicates “Resize Mode”.
  8. Move Mode - When you place your mouse on the edge of a window the mouse changes into a four-headed arrow which indicates “Move Mode”.
  9. Taskbar - The Taskbar is not part of a window and it is located at the bottom of the Desktop. It shows which programs you have open and it will allow you to see those windows in different views such as cascade windows and tile windows.
