Fourth Grade

When school begins in the fall, fourth grade students will come to computer lab once a week. In the first quarter we will review the computer, keyboard, mouse, mouse operation, the Desktop, and saving files. In the first quarter students will begin to learn the keyboard and keyboarding, please see the keyboarding lessons and help them to practice at home. Please print this diagram from your color printer and hang it by your computer to reinforce proper keystrokes.

In the second quarter students will learn Internet Safety using the CyberSmart Curriculum. We will continue to keyboard and to learn more about Windows. Fourth Graders will be introduced to PowerPoint 2007.

In the third quarter we will visit Kidport to practice addition, subtraction, and multiplication; this helps prepare students for their ITBS test coming up in April. We will also start keyboarding in TyperShark; we will do lessons 1 and 2. You can download a trial version from PopCap.com to use at home; the trial lasts 60 minutes.

During the fourth quarter we will type lessons 3 and 4 in TyperShark. We will continue with CyberSmart and PowerPoint.
